What is Detaild?

Detaild is a mobile app that helps auto detailing professionals run their business. It brings booking, client management, scheduling, invoicing, and payments into one app — all from your phone. Unlike generic field service tools that serve dozens of industries, Detaild is built specifically for mobile detailers with features like a vehicle database, detailing-focused workflows, and a public booking page where clients can book and pay online.

Who is Detaild for?

Detaild is designed for mobile auto detailers — professionals who travel to their clients to detail vehicles. This includes: Solo mobile detailers, Small detailing businesses, Ceramic coating installers, Paint protection film (PPF) installers, Interior detailing specialists, Boat and marine detailers, RV and motorhome detailers. Detaild is NOT for fixed-location car washes, automatic wash facilities, or general field service businesses like HVAC, plumbing, or landscaping.

How do I get started?

Getting started takes about 60 seconds: 1) Download Detaild from the App Store, 2) Create your account, 3) Add your services and pricing, 4) Get your booking link (booking.getdetaild.com/yourdetailer), 5) Share your link and start accepting bookings. No computer required. No complicated setup. Everything happens on your phone.

Are there any system requirements?

Detaild is a mobile app for iPhone. You need: An iPhone running iOS 15 or later, An internet connection. That's it. No desktop software to install. A Stripe account is optional — you can accept bookings without Stripe (customers pay at the door with cash, Venmo, etc.) or connect Stripe to collect deposits and reduce no-shows.

Will I need any training?

No. Detaild is designed to be intuitive from day one. Most detailers are up and running within minutes. If you ever need help, you can reach us at [email protected].

What countries does Detaild work in?

Detaild currently supports detailers in the United States. The app is in English and payments are processed in US Dollars through Stripe. We plan to expand to additional countries in the future.

Pricing & Billing

How much does Detaild cost?

Detaild is $49.99/month via the Apple App Store. This includes: Unlimited clients, Unlimited appointments and jobs, Public booking page, Online payments via Stripe, Automated reminders (SMS / Email), Vehicle database access, Business analytics, All features. If you connect Stripe for online payments, you (the detailer) pay Stripe's standard 2.9% + 30¢ processing fee, deducted from each payout. The customer pays an additional 3% Detaild platform fee at checkout, added to their booking total — you don't pay both. Cash payments have no fees. There's a 1-week free trial and a 30-day money back guarantee.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Download the app and get started free. You can explore the features and set up your business before subscribing.

Are there any contracts or commitments?

No. Detaild is a monthly subscription with no long-term contracts. You can cancel anytime with no penalties.

What happens after my trial?

After your trial, you'll need to subscribe to continue using Detaild. Your data, clients, and settings are saved. just subscribe and pick up where you left off.

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel anytime through the app settings or by contacting [email protected]. There are no cancellation fees or penalties.

Is my billing information secure?

Yes. Detaild uses Stripe for all payment processing. Your billing information is encrypted and securely stored by Stripe. we never see or store your full card details.

What payment methods do you accept for the subscription?

Detaild accepts all major credit and debit cards for your monthly subscription, processed securely through Stripe.

What does Detaild do exactly?

Detaild helps you run your detailing business by bringing everything into one app: Public Booking Page (clients book online at booking.getdetaild.com/yourdetailer), Client Management (store client info, vehicles, appointment history, and notes), Calendar & Scheduling (view and manage appointments in day, week, or month view), Services & Add-Ons (create custom services with pricing and optional add-ons), Online Payments (accept deposits and payments via Stripe, Apple Pay, Google Pay), Vehicle Database (9,800+ vehicles including exotic and luxury brands), Business Analytics (track earnings, clients, jobs completed), Automated Reminders (SMS and email reminders to reduce no-shows), Service Area (define where you work with location and radius). Instead of juggling spreadsheets, texts, and paper invoices, everything is in one place.

How do clients book me?

You get a public booking page at booking.getdetaild.com/yourdetailer (you choose your business name). Share this link anywhere. Instagram bio, text messages, business cards, your website. Clients can: See your services and pricing, Pick a date and time, Enter their vehicle details, Pay a deposit or full amount, Receive confirmation. You get a notification when someone books, and can approve or decline the request.

How do I get paid?

You have two options:

Without Stripe (Pay at Door): Perfect for side gigs and cash businesses. Customers book online and pay when you arrive with cash, Venmo, Zelle, or however you prefer. No business setup required.

With Stripe Connected: Collect deposits when customers book to reduce no-shows by 80%+. Accept card payments via payment links. Track all earnings in one place. Stripe deposits go directly to your bank in 2-3 business days.

You can start without Stripe and connect it later when you're ready for deposits and card payments.

Can I charge a deposit and collect the rest in cash?

Yes! This is actually the smartest way to operate.

Here's how it works: Connect Stripe, set a deposit (like 25%), and when a customer books, only the deposit is charged. A hold is placed on their card for the remaining balance.

After you complete the service, you can release the hold and collect the rest in cash, Venmo, Zelle — whatever works for you.

Why this is great: You get no-show protection (if they don't show up, you keep the deposit), but you only pay Stripe fees on the deposit — not the full job. On a $100 job with 25% deposit, you save over $2 in fees compared to charging the full amount via card.

What is the vehicle database?

Detaild includes a database of 9,800+ vehicles. from everyday cars (Toyota, Honda, Ford) to exotic and luxury brands (Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Porsche, Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Bugatti, Koenigsegg, Pagani). When adding a client or booking, you can search by year, make, and model. This helps you: Track what vehicles your clients own, Know what you're working on before you arrive, Build a history of vehicles you've detailed. This is a feature generic software doesn't have.

Can I customize my services?

Yes. You can create unlimited custom services with: Service name, Duration, Price, Description. You can also create add-ons (like "engine bay cleaning" or "pet hair removal") that clients can select during booking.

Does Detaild send reminders to clients?

Yes. Detaild sends automated SMS reminders before each appointment to reduce no-shows. On the day of the job, status SMS go out automatically as you progress — On My Way, Arrived, Started, Completed — followed by a post-job SMS confirmation with a link to the receipt and a Book Again button.

Can I see my business analytics?

Yes. The analytics dashboard is organized into three tabs — Revenue, Clients, and Jobs — and uses progressive unlock so charts only appear once they have enough data to be meaningful. The Comparison chart and Services Breakdown unlock at 5 completed jobs. The Revenue By Day and Peak Times heatmaps unlock at 12. The Clients tab (Top Clients, Growth, At-Risk, Visit Frequency) unlocks at 20. The Jobs tab (Top Earner, Peak Times by service, Estimate Accuracy) unlocks at 25. Lifetime earnings, total clients, and jobs completed are visible from day one.

Can I book multiple vehicles in one appointment?

Yes. A single appointment can include multiple vehicles from the same client — for example, a husband's BMW and wife's Tesla scheduled back-to-back at the same address. Each vehicle gets its own service line, its own duration, and its own price. The booking page, calendar, and Send Payment Link all support multi-vehicle bookings out of the box.

Can I set up recurring bookings for repeat clients?

Yes. You can create recurring bookings that repeat on a weekly, biweekly, monthly, or custom cadence. The app checks for conflicts before locking the future slots in, and each future appointment behaves like a regular booking — clients receive SMS reminders, payments and analytics roll up the same way.

Does Detaild send job-status SMS updates to my customers?

Yes. Detaild uses Surge to send automatic SMS updates as you progress through a job: On My Way, Arrived, Started, and Completed. When the job is marked complete, a post-job SMS confirmation goes out with a rich link preview to the receipt page and a Book Again link. You don't have to type anything — the messages fire when you tap the status buttons in the app.

Can I price the same service differently by vehicle size?

Yes. Vehicle Size Pricing lets you set tiered prices on a single service — for example, Full Detail at $150 for a sedan, $180 for an SUV, $220 for a truck. When a client selects their vehicle on the booking page, Detaild pulls the right size from the 9,800+ vehicle database and applies the correct price automatically.

Can I apply a discount to a booking?

Yes. You can apply a fixed-dollar or percentage discount to any booking. Discounts show up as a separate line on the customer's invoice and the payment link, and they flow through to analytics so you can see how much promotional revenue you've given away.

What if I need to charge a custom one-off price?

Use Custom Price. On any booking you can override the service catalog and type in a one-off amount — useful for special quotes, package deals, or rescue jobs that don't fit a standard service. The custom price still flows through Send Payment Link, analytics, and receipts like any other line item.

How do I cancel an appointment?

Open the appointment in the calendar and tap Cancel Appointment. The client receives an SMS that their booking has been cancelled, the slot opens back up on your public booking page, and any deposit handling follows your cancellation policy.

Does Detaild support Tap to Pay on iPhone?

Not yet. Today you can collect online payments via Stripe (saved card, Apple Pay, Google Pay), send a payment link by SMS or email, or log a cash payment in the app. Tap to Pay on iPhone is on the roadmap.

Can I send formal invoices or estimates?

Detaild's Send Payment Link page is the closest thing — it shows your client an itemized, branded summary (services, add-ons, deposits, discount, total) with a pay button. Dedicated PDF invoices and standalone estimates are on the roadmap but not shipped yet.

Does Detaild have CarPlay support or iOS widgets?

Not yet. Detaild is iPhone-only today. CarPlay and Home Screen widgets are on the roadmap but have not shipped.

Can clients leave reviews inside Detaild?

Not directly. Your booking page can display your existing Google Reviews and your Instagram portfolio so new clients see social proof before they book. Native in-app review collection is on the roadmap.

Does Detaild track business expenses?

Not yet. Detaild tracks revenue from every paid job, but expense entry (supplies, fuel, equipment) is on the roadmap and not shipped. For now, pair Detaild with a separate expense app like QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Booking & Payments

How does the booking page work?

Your booking page lives at booking.getdetaild.com/yourdetailer. You can customize it with: Your business name, Logo and cover image, Brand colors, Services and pricing, Instagram portfolio, Google reviews, Working hours, Booking rules (minimum notice, advance limit, cancellation policy). Clients visit the page, pick a service, select a time, enter their vehicle info, and pay. You get notified and can approve or decline.

What payment methods can my clients use?

Clients can pay with: Credit card, Debit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay. All payments are processed securely through Stripe.

How do deposits work?

You can require a deposit when clients book. The deposit amount is held when they book, then released to you when you approve the booking. After the job, you can send a payment link for the remaining balance, or mark as cash if they pay in person.

When do I get paid?

Payments are processed through Stripe. Once a payment is captured, Stripe typically deposits funds to your bank account within 2 business days (standard Stripe timing).

What are the transaction fees?

Online payments are split between two parties: you (the detailer) pay Stripe's standard 2.9% + $0.30 processing fee, deducted from each payout. The customer pays an additional 3% Detaild platform fee at checkout, added to their booking total. You don't pay both — Detaild's 3% is collected from the customer, not from your earnings. Cash payments logged in the app have no fees on either side.

Data & Security

Is my data secure?

Yes. Detaild takes security seriously: All data is encrypted in transit and at rest, Payments are processed by Stripe (PCI compliant), We use Supabase for secure database hosting, We never share your data with third parties for marketing.

Can I import my existing clients?

Yes. You can sync contacts from your phone to quickly add existing clients. You can also add clients manually. Bulk CSV import is not currently available but is planned for a future update.

Can I export my data?

Data export is not currently available in the app. If you need your data for any reason, contact [email protected] and we'll help you.

What happens to my data if I cancel?

If you cancel your subscription, your data is retained for 30 days in case you decide to come back. After 30 days, your data may be deleted. If you need to export your data before canceling, contact [email protected].

Platform & Devices

Does Detaild have a mobile app?

Yes. Detaild is a mobile app for iPhone, available on the Apple App Store. The entire app is designed to run your business from your phone.

Is there a web/desktop version?

Not currently. Detaild is mobile-only right now. A web dashboard for desktop access is planned for the future, but there's no release date yet.

Does Detaild work on Android?

Not yet. Detaild is currently available on iPhone (iOS) only. Android is coming soon — sign up for updates at getdetaild.com.

Can I use Detaild on multiple devices?

Yes. You can log into your Detaild account on multiple iPhones. Your data syncs across devices.

How is Detaild different from Jobber?

Jobber is a field service management tool for 50+ industries — HVAC, plumbing, landscaping, cleaning, and more. It's built to be generic and work for everyone. Detaild is built exclusively for auto detailers. How is Detaild different from using spreadsheets or texting?

Spreadsheets and texting "work" but they don't scale: No booking page (clients can't book online, you're back and forth texting), No payment processing (you're chasing invoices and hoping people pay), No reminders (you're manually texting reminders or dealing with no-shows), No client history (you forget what vehicle they have or when you last serviced them), No analytics (you have no idea if you're actually making money). Detaild replaces all of that with one app. Clients book and pay online. You get reminders. You see your earnings. You look professional.

Is Detaild for car washes?

No. Detaild is designed for mobile detailers who travel to clients — not fixed-location car washes or automatic wash facilities. If you operate a stationary car wash, Detaild is not the right tool for you.
